As a singer, I feel very influenced by instrumentalists and by many classic instrumental songs, says Karrin Allyson
Born in Great Bend, Kansas, a prairie town on the Arkansas River, Allyson came of age in Omaha, where her parents (her father was a Lutheran minister and her mother was a psychologist, schoolteacher and classical pianist) moved when she was six. She became a serious classical piano student, eventually making it her major in college, where she first performed professionally, paying tuition as a singer-pianist on introspective 70s pop (Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Janis Ian) and on funk-rock repertoire with an all-female band. She caught the jazz bug from fellow students, and began to listen to Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley, Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Bill Evans, and Thelonious Monk. She pored through books, and applied her lessons at local jam sessions. I got hit pretty hard, she says. I loved the beautiful stories in those songs, but quickly realized how exciting it was to be able to improvise and swing to vary tunes and suit your own style. Singing started to take first chair.
Allyson moved to Minneapolis, and developed her craft over the next three years. Then she answered a call for help from her uncle, Ron Schoonover, who owned the Phoenix, a jazz club in downtown Kansas City, and found himself suddenly without a singer. My father and grandfather talked him into giving me a test job, and I ended up moving there, Allyson recalls. Kansas City was very soulful, and it always felt like home. The Phoenix had music from 5 until 2, and different shifts of local players would come in. Musicians who were in the movie The Last Of The Blue Devils played there, and thats where I met the guys I still work with, like Bob Bowman, Paul Smith, Danny Embrey and Rod Fleeman, and Todd Strait. I became pretty much a fixture as a Kansas City bandleader, and kept a lot of people working. A New York City resident since 2000, Allyson projects throughout Footprints the blues-as-catharsis principle that underpins the Kansas City tradition.
The message for this new project, as in most great jazz, is optimistic and regenerative. I always refer to my CDs as my babies, Allyson says. This project is my tenth, and I'm especially proud of it. I was fortunate to work with some truly great collaborators, my idols, and together we gave birth to fabulous recording. The lyrics are like poetry and the music is so alive, energized.

Baden Powell de Aquino (August 6, 1937 - September 26, 2000) usually known simply as Baden Powell, was a noted musician, widely regarded as the greatest Brazilian guitarist of all times. He explored the instrument to its utmost limits, playing it in a distinctive, unique manner, incorporating virtuoso classical techniques together with popular harmony and swing. He performed in many styles, including Bossa nova, Samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and Msica Popular Brasileira. He often performed on stage during most of his lifetime, an recorded an extensive discography comprised by LP and CD albums produced in Brazil and Europe, particularly in France and Germany.

Callen Radcliffe Tjader, Jr. a.k.a. Cal Tjader (July 16, 1925–May 5, 1982) was a Latin jazz musician, though he also explored various other jazz idioms. Unlike other American jazz musicians who experimented with the music from Cuba, the Caribbean, and Latin America, he never abandoned it, performing it until his death.
Tjader primarily played the vibraphone. He was also accomplished on the drums, bongos, congas, timpani, and the piano. He worked with numerous musicians from several cultures. He is often linked to the development of Latin Rock and Acid Jazz. Although fusing jazz with Latin music is often categorized as "Latin Jazz" (or, earlier, "Afro-Cuban Jazz"), Tjader's output swung freely between both styles.
He won a Grammy in 1980 for his album La Onda Va Bien, capping off a career that spanned over forty years.

Когда заходит разговор о босса-нове, фирменном бразильском музыкальном продукте, первый, кого вспоминают в данной связи, безусловно, Антонио Карлос (Том) Жобим, со своими песнями "The Girl From Ipanema" и "Desafinado" и другими композициями заложивший основы жанра в середине 50-х. Но, как это часто бывает, появление других музыкантов сообщило жанру несколько иное направление - как в лирическом, так и в ритмическом плане.

"Jazzamor "— творческий союз профессионального звукоинженера Роланда Гроша и певицы Беттины Мишке, образованный в 2001 году. "Jazzamor" - воздушная компиляция из совершенно неземного вокала Беттины в орнаменте прекрасной музыки, уходящей своими корнями к лаунжу и эйсид-джазу. Надо отметить, что в степенях владения иностранными языками "Jazzamor" на высоте - в их альбомах представлены песни на английском, французском, португальском, немецком языках.
«…Дуэт был создан в 2001 году, а через год репетиций и поиска своего звука был выпущен альбом" Lazy Sunday Afternoon", мгновенно изгнав опостылевший и отполированный до блеска De Phazz из „молодежных“ кафе и магазинов модной одежды. Легкая поп-музыка с элементами латино и со вполне обоснованной претензией на интеллектуальность. Роланд Грош смешивает босанову с ню-джазом и деталями классической музыки, а Беттина мягко и обволакивающе шепчет ироничные и нераздражающие стихи про детство и про луну. И все это пролилось как бальзам на израненные северным климатом души жителей города. Альбом "Lazy Sunday Afternoon" содержит 12 композиций Гроша и Мишке и кавер-версии джазовых тем "Summertime" и "Fly Me To The Moon". В альбоме" A Piece Of My Heart"— 12 собственных песен и две кавер-версии: композиция "Ain’t No Sunshine" Билла Уизерса и "Space Cowboy" группы "Jamiroquai". Кроме английского и португальского, на дисках звучит французская и немецкая речь.
Дуэт "Jazzamor" приезжал в Россию и выступал в клубах Москвы и Санкт-Петербурга в 2004 и 2005 году.
Последний на текущий момент альбом дуэта, увидевший свет в 2006 году, — музыкальное путешествие по миру под названием "Travel… (In Order Not To Arrive)".
