Beefeater

Beefeater was an American post-hardcore band from late 1984 until 1986. Formed by Tomas Squip, Fred "Freak" Smith, Dug E. Bird (Birdzell) and Bruce Atchley Taylor, they were pioneers of the post-hardcore genre and the Revolution Summer which took place in the Washington D.C. hardcore in the mid-'80s with similar bands like >Embrace, >Rites of Spring and >Gray Matter, among others. Their debut LP, Plays for Lovers was released in 1985 on the Dischord and their follow-up House Burning Down was released in 1986, as their farewell LP. Drummers Mark "Two-Chair" Shellhaas and Kenny Craun replaced Taylor on later albums. Squip and Birdzell went on to form Fidelity Jones, while Craun joined the Rhythm Pigs and Fred "Freak" Smith joined >Strange Boutique.

Hi Jack

HI JACK means heavy Emocore added with a dash of melody-punk coming from Heinsberg (NRW, Germany). Melodious singing, brutal shouts, extremly hard and at the same time melodious guitars, as well as heavy drums are coming up to an absolut giant trip to hell on stage everytime. In spit of a great increase in this kind of music, Hi Jack are able to clearly distinguish from the crowd. In fact of their remembering melodies and different riffs they create their own and unconfoundable sound with a high grade of recognition. Their sound stays in the heads of the audience.

Moment of Truth

Comparable to the Trammps and Double Exposure, Moment of Truth was an excellent but little known East Coast quartet that combined Philadelphia soul with Philadelphia disco. The male vocal group (which consisted of Norris Harris, Ivery "Caprice" Bell, Michael Garrison, and Billy Jones) was consistently mindful of disco's soul roots and owed a strong debt to classic Philly soulsters like the Intruders and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Formed in the 1970s, Moment of Truth recorded its self-titled debut album for Salsoul in 1977. Although superb, the album was ignored by radio and wasn't a big seller by any means. However, the single "Helplessly" became a minor club hit. Moment of Truth broke up without ever recording a second album, and its album was out of print for many years. But thankfully Salsoul reissued Moment of Truth on CD in 1993.
