Moon Boots entered the world in the mid-1980s via Cape Canaveral. After years of service as the preferred footwear of celebrity astronauts (notably Tom Hanks), Moon Boots came to life during a classified experiment aboard the International Space Station. Little is known of what actually transpired aboard the shuttle, but in short, Moon Boots became a sentient creature, equipped with reason, intuition, and groove. Before long, he grew tired of working for the space-military-industrial complex and found solace in the soothing sounds of underground disco and R&B boogie records. He knew it was only of matter of time before he was hung up like so many boots before him. He abandoned the program and used his savings to build a music-production studio in an unnamed U.S. location, where he is currently working.

Shook

Shook — настоящее имя Jasper Wijnands — это голландский продюсер, автор песен, мульти-инструменталист, известный своими экспериментами с синтетическим звуком.

The Magician

Jacques Renault

Jacques Renault was a post-punk Washington, D.C. native who moved to Chicago in 1997 to continue his studies of viola, but in turn got an education in dance music. Tapping into the well-established Drum 'n' Bass scene, he held a residency at Smart Bar and became a buyer at the legendary Gramaphone Records. This broad, raw exposure to House lead him straight back to the classics of Disco and to its heart, New York City, where he landed in 2002.

CFCF

Michael Silver (aka CFCF) is one of those rare talents to whom pop sensibility seems to be second nature. The Montreal native has been making music in his bedroom since he was 12 years old, but it’s only over the past year or so that the rest of the world has been able to share in his pop experiments. Despite having just exited his teenage years, CFCF has a musical depth that constantly surprises his elders with influences ranging from Jellybean and Pete Rock to Todd Rundgren and Fleetwood Mac. This wide scope of interest in genre and pop structure and mature melodic instinct allow him to shift gears effortlessly from Italo to Disco to Balearic to Piano House and everything in between. His pop music can be sweetly melancholy or creepily disturbing, but it is always fundamentally Pop. Having first caught tastemakers’ attention with his contest-winning remix of Crystal Castles’ ‘Air War‘ CFCF has gone on to produce official remixes for talents such as Sally Shapiro, The Presets, HEALTH, The Teenagers and Hearts Revolution, among many others. For the past couple of years he has honed his fluid, eclectic and always fun DJ sets at his weekly residency with Montreal’s Saturday mainstay, Dance Dance Dance. He’s also been busy with his own productions and the next couple of months will see releases through Acphale and Paper Bag Records.

Midnight Magic

A nine person ensemble bonded by the unwavering desire to make you, the listener, and the rhythm become one; the secret love children of Donna Summer and George Clinton serving up an orgasmic feast of funk, disco, electro and soul. Anchored by former "H&LA" alumni Carter Yasutake, Morgan Wiley, and W. Andrew Raposo and powered by the enormous vocals of chanteuse Tiffany Roth, Midnight Magic teleported the masses to the dance floor this summer with their interstellar 12" "Beam Me Up" on Permanent Vacation. Rounding out the Brooklyn based unit is Caito Sanchez, Nick Roseboro, Max Goldman, Jason Disu and Andrew Frawley. Spring 2011 will see their long awaited follow up single "Drop Me A Line" on Permanent Vacation. Mixed by former DFA house engineer and Sticky Disc founder Eric Broucek and featuring remixes by the likes of Juan Maclean (among others), this fiery banger is sure to become the anthem of the love-slave evolution on Alpha Centauri if not dance music lovers all over the galaxy.
