Теги и жанры: hardcore, funk, pop, experimental, breakcore

Real Name: Mikki Farrow

Mikki was born in Detroit, where she got into music at an early age. In the mid sixties she met and married saxophonist Andrew "Mike" Terry. She had also been a participant in Jerry Butlers' writers' workshop in Chicago.

Around 1968, she came to Philadelphia and got involved with the upcoming Sound of Philadelphia. She worked as songwriter and background vocalist, having recorded early on with Gamble & Huff, starting with "I Just Can't Stop Dancin" by Archie Bell And The Drells, all of the Jerry Butler sessions including "The Ice Man Cometh", and "Ice on Ice", as well as co-writing several Jerry Butler classics.

Her work for Loleatta Holloway, Blue Magic, and Trammps, The provided her with the contact with Norman Harris, who wrote and produced her material. Despite having quality tracks, Mikki's singles were lost in the shuffle. "Love Emergency" was her best charting record, at #59. Prior to that chart-succes she recorded various songs including "Could It Be" and "Set My Heart At Ease", both for Karate Records.

In the late eighties, she went back to Chicago and reconnected with Billy Butler, the brother of Jerry Butler. They subsequently dated and married, and moved back to Philly, where she started an evangelistic ministry, and pursued her love of Gospel music and to spread the word. Mikki passed away on February 12th 2002, while on the list for a liver transplant.
